ആടുജീവിതം (Aadujeevitham)- Benyamin




Najeeb, full of desires to settle in his life planing to visit Gulf  and fulfill his dreams of becoming wealthy. With his help of his friend, Najeeb travels to Gulf accompanied with a young man Hakeem. The trouble started right away when they landed. After a long wait in airport, they are taken away by a rich Arab to his farm. There he is treated as a slave and assigned to look after the goats for about three and half years in the desserts of Saudi Arabia. Najeed was forced to work tirelessly without food, even denying water for washing his bodily waste. Najeeb was kept in control with a gun and binoculars and beats him regularly with his belt.Najeeb is far away from human interaction and he starts to identify himself with the goats. He talks to them, eats with them, sleeps with them and virtually lives the life of a goat. Finally one night with the help of a Somalian worker from  Hakeem's farm  device a plan and the trio elopes from the desert. They walk for days and young Hakeem dies of hunger and thirst. Najeeb and Ibrahim (Somalian) however manages to find their way to town. Najeeb get himself arrested and end up in prison to deport to India. There will be a small twist at the end of the story that makes the reader feel so sorry for Najeeb. This novel is based on a real life incident.
